For a Lack of Energy

Here’s a few new spots from Energizer pimping their latest line of batteries. The animation is pretty fun and whimsical, the songs are silly and the payoff is semi-comical.

However, for a pretty well done and obviously time-consuming production of dancing marionette electronics, the art direction on the resolve is so disappointing. Showing the whole poorly-designed battery packages and that shitty colored haze that flies by on the end frames is such a let down from the rest of the spots. Maybe take a cue from Duracell and just show one battery as a hero or something, and make your products design elements more sophisticated, please.

But overall, these do a good job at giving life and personality to a commodity product.
